The Story of Our Birth:

Mom and Dad waited patiently for 3 years for us to decide to join their family.   They tried three times with InVitro Fertilization, and on the third attempt, had 3 embryos put back into mommy.  They prayed everyday during the 2 weeks after the transfer...and then they received the phone call that changed their lives forever!   When they found out that mom was pregnant they were upstairs in their Granny Unit getting it ready for their good friends Beth and Anthony who were coming from Connectictut, and staying  with them for the weekend.  Mom just stood their shocked that it had finally happened, and Dad shed a few tears of joy.  It was the best day (up to that point) in their lives.

They waited another 4 weeks before they were able to go into the doctor's office to have the pregnancy confirmed...and not only did they see the heartbeat...they saw TWO!  They were sooo surprised, and happy that they both shed tears of joy.

This is the very first picture of me, Amelia Elizabeth.  I was known as Baby X.  You can't really see me...but I looked like a little grain of rice.

And this is the very first picture of me, Annabella Ernesta.  I was known as Baby Y during the pregnancy.  As with my sister, you can't really see me either...and I looked like a little grain of rice too.

It's was amazing and awe inspiring for mommy and daddy to watch us grow.  They watched us changing through many ultrasounds and tracked our day to day growth and changes by reading every night together.  Daddy always read to mommy's belly...and after awhile we could hear him too!

The pregnancy was a wonderful experience, one I would never change for anything.  BUT....it was very long!  And the larger I got, the more difficult it became.  I was sick for the first 17 weeks, and then the rest of the pregnancy I had severe heartburn and no sleep ... but I'm sure that is not very different than many women's experience!

Wow, what a surprise to have our girls arrive on May 1st...4 1/2 weeks earlier than planned. We figured they would be early, but did not expect to be sent from my last scheduled ultrasound appt, directly to the hospital to have them delivered via c-section that day!! But, it was the safest course of action since Annabella's growth had decreased, and her predicted weight had fallen below the 10th percent. So, Amelia was delivered at 2:14pm (W: 5lbs 1oz; L: 18in), and Annabella at 2:15pm (W: 3lbs 9oz; 17in). They rushed both girls out, put them on IVs, heart monitors, and put Annabella on oxygen. The first week was the most difficult for us, because on day 3, the Drs. decided to stop feeding Annabella because she couldn't keep anything down. They were even going to send her to another hospital...we were sooo scared. Well in the end, they did not need to, and Amelia came home on Mother's Day 5/14, and Annabella one week later. Both are beautiful, healthy, and perfect!
